HL-CH12 is a bare board with 12 constant-voltage PWM outputs. A brightness pattern is written on a computer and sent to the board through the USB-A socket. Each output repeats that pattern on its own group of lamps. It is not a DMX controller, not a DALI controller, and not an SPI or pixel controller.

Supply. DC 5-12 V, the same supply as the lamps. Pads marked 3.6 V stay open for 5-12 V. Short those pads only when the lamps are 3.6 V. This board is not for 24 V.

Outputs. The printed maximum is 4 A per channel. The worked example in the same note is 150 modules of 20 mA, which is 3 A on one channel, and 1,800 modules if all 12 channels are full. Size each channel to the lamps on it. Each output has 256 brightness steps. The board is not a 48 A distribution panel. The lamp positive is taken from the supply, not fed as one current through the board.

Wiring. Common positive. Connect the supply positive to the controller and to every lamp positive. Connect the supply negative to the controller. Each channel terminal is the switched return for one group.

Where it is used. A facade or outline of low-voltage modules, up to 12 groups. Stairs or coves, one channel per section, with the lamps at 5-12 V and 12 sections at most. A sign or a window with up to 12 zones running a chase, a trailing fade, a burst, or a ripple. Those patterns are drawings in the program. They are not buttons on the board.

Programming. The program is called CH256. It runs on a computer and is sent through the USB-A socket. A downloader is included with this unit. The program screen in the manufacturer's note is in Chinese. Hi-Line does not provide training on that software.

Mechanical. 53 x 38 x 5 mm without the terminals, and 53 x 38 x 20 mm with the terminals fitted. This unit has the terminals. It is a bare board for a dry enclosure. It has no IP rating. Warranty is 5 years.
