DA-ER DALI-2 Ceiling PIR and Daylight Sensor
DALI-2 ceiling sensor for occupancy and illuminance. It draws 8 mA from the DALI bus and reports to IEC 62386-303 and IEC 62386-304. It does not switch a lamp by itself. Use it with a DALI-2 multi-master application controller and a DALI bus supply.
The DA-ER is a ceiling sensor for a DALI-2 system. It measures occupancy to IEC 62386-303 and illuminance to IEC 62386-304, and it places those events on the bus. It does not drive a lamp and it does not contain a relay. A multi-master application controller that reads those two instance types has to be on the same bus. A Wi-Fi or radio DALI dimmer that only sends DT6 or DT8 commands is not that controller.
Supply
The sensor is powered only from the DALI bus. Current draw is 8 mA at 16 V. If the application controller already feeds the bus, a separate supply is not required. If it does not, use one bus supply for the line. HL-DA-PS is a 200 mA, 16 V supply. This sensor uses 8 mA of that capacity, not the 2 mA often assumed for a control device. The pair is polarity-free: either way around on DA1 and DA2.
Detection
- Recommended mounting height 3.5 m. At that height the detection diameter is up to 12 m. The ceiling detection angle is 120°.
- Above 3.5 m the sensitivity falls. Below 3.5 m the detection area becomes smaller.
- The manual divides the area into a higher-sensitivity zone for movement faster than 0.4 m/s and a lower-sensitivity zone for movement slower than 0.3 m/s.
- Keep the detection area inside the area lit by the luminaires under control.
- Do not overlap the detection areas of two sensors. Overlap changes the control logic.
- Heaters, fans, printers and copiers inside the area can cause false presence events. Do not point the lens at a lamp.
Light measurement
The light sensor covers 0 to 1,000 lux, with 10-bit event data and a resolution of 10 lux. Illuminance hysteresis is set on the knob to 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 lux. An event is sent only when the change passes that hysteresis.
Knobs and the SET button
Three knobs are on the sensor. They apply only while the unit is powered.
- Report time, for the occupancy instance: 10 s, 25 s, 50 s, 75 s or 100 s. This is the longest gap between repeated reports of an unchanged state.
- Hold time, for the occupancy instance: 10 s, 30 s, 90 s, 3 min, 10 min or 30 min. After the area clears, the occupied state is held for this time.
- Illuminance hysteresis, for the light instance: 5, 10, 15, 20 or 25 lux.
These knob values stay in the sensor. They are not written to the application controller. Set the same values in the controller, or the two will not agree. A short press of SET opens knob adjustment and the indicator flashes. It closes after 5 s with no change. Holding SET for 5 s restores the factory instance values and the indicator flashes five times.
The red indicator stays on while motion is detected. A green flash means the sensor has received a DALI frame and has reported an event.
Installation
- Ceiling cut-out 86 mm. The body drawing is marked 95 mm across and 51 mm high.
- Carton size on the sheet: 122 × 100 × 65 mm. Weight 0.142 kg.
- IP20, for indoor use. Ambient −20 °C to +55 °C. Maximum case temperature +55 °C.
- The manual limits one DALI circuit to 64 of these sensors. Each sensor takes one short address, so other addressed devices on that circuit reduce the number.
Standards and warranty
The manual lists EN 61347-1, EN 61347-2, EN IEC 55015 and EN IEC 61547, and marks the unit DALI-2, CE and RoHS. Warranty 5 years.
