Smart ZigBee Motion Sensor with Built-in Light Sensor
This compact sensor combines motion detection and brightness sensing in a ZigBee-based design, offering flexible control for smart lighting and home automation setups. Designed to integrate with the Tuya Smart Life ecosystem, it works seamlessly with Hi-Line ZigBee LED controllers and other Tuya-compatible devices.
Important – ZigBee Hub Required
This is a ZigBee 3.0 device, not Wi-Fi. It cannot connect directly to your phone or router and will not function without a ZigBee gateway. Compatible options include Tuya ZigBee gateways (recommended), Samsung SmartThings, Philips Hue Bridge (limited support), or other ZigBee 3.0 gateways that support the Tuya Smart Life app. If you don’t already have a compatible hub, we recommend the Hi-Line WG-Z Tuya WiFi & ZigBee Gateway:

Scene-Based Smart Automation
Once connected via a Tuya-compatible ZigBee gateway, the sensor can trigger smart scenes such as turning on LED strips automatically when motion is detected and brightness is low. It can activate lights or alarms using Hi-Line ZigBee LED controllers like HL-WZ1 (single colour) or HL-V5-L(WZ) (RGB/CCT), and combine motion and light level triggers to automate security or comfort-based responses.
Installer Note – Smart Setup Required
This sensor is ideal for users familiar with smart home systems. It requires pairing through the Smart Life app and configuring custom automation scenes. If you're unsure, please consult your installer before purchase.
Detection & Light Sensing
Provides motion sensing up to 7 metres with a wide 120° horizontal and 100° vertical detection angle. The built-in light sensor enables lux-based automation, such as activating lights only below a certain brightness level.
Power Options – Battery or USB-C
The unit can run on the included CR123A 3.0V lithium battery, or be powered via USB Type-C 5V (1A). When USB-C is connected, the battery is disabled. Rechargeable batteries are not supported. Type-C cable is not included.
Battery Life:
Up to 24 months under normal usage conditions. This assumes moderate daily motion events in typical indoor environments.
In high-traffic areas with frequent triggers, battery life may be reduced.
To preserve power, the LED indicator remains off during normal operation and only lights up during pairing or reset.
Quick & Easy Pairing
Mount with adhesive or screws. To pair, open the rear cover (clearly marked for open/close), remove the battery tab, then press and hold the internal button for 5 seconds until the LED flashes. Use the Smart Life app to add the device under ZigBee > “Search for device”.
Real-Time Alerts & Free History
Receive mobile notifications when motion is detected. Motion and brightness data is stored for up to 7 days in the app at no cost.
What This Sensor Can Do – Key Specs & Capabilities

The integrated light sensor measures ambient brightness in lux, enabling conditional lighting automation. Power is supplied via a CR123A 3.0V lithium battery (included) or optional USB Type-C 5V (1A) connection. When using USB-C, the battery is automatically disabled. The device connects with the Tuya Smart Life app, supports smart scenes, and triggers alerts. It integrates with Hi-Line ZigBee LED controllers, smart relays, curtain motors, or alarms. Activity logs for motion and brightness are available for free in the app for up to 7 days.
Reminder:
