90° Corners with IP68 Outdoor RGBW LED Strips With fully sealed IP68 outdoor RGBW LED strips, 90-degree corners should not be done by sharply bending the strip or creating on-site corner joins, as this can compromise the factory waterproofing. The most reliable method is to install separate straight runs: One strip finishes before the corner, and a second strip starts after the corner. Both cut ends are sealed properly using end caps and silicone. This gives a clean corner appearance without introducing a waterproof joint directly at the turn. On-site soldering is technically possible but requires extreme precision, as RGBW strips have five closely spaced conductors and must be professionally resealed back to full IP68. Once the lengths and layout are confirmed, we are happy to help size the correct power supplies, controllers, and control options for the full system.

Choosing the correct lighting method for a lightbox is essential for achieving even illumination and long-term reliability. The two main approaches are edge-lit acrylic panels and back-lit lightboxes, and they are not interchangeable. Edge-lit lighting injects light into the acrylic edge and is ideal for very shallow constructions where edge access is available. For taller panels, edge lighting must be balanced, usually from both the top and bottom. If bottom edge access is not possible, uniformity cannot be guaranteed. In these cases, back-lighting is the correct solution. Back-lit lightboxes place LED modules behind the acrylic, projecting light forward into the cavity. This approach is particularly suitable for back-printed acrylic, larger panels, and installations where physical constraints prevent correct edge lighting. A common solution is the CL005 LED backlighting module, a 12V constant-voltage module designed specifically for signs and lightboxes. Modules can be cut to length and used up to 30 modules per electrical string, with larger layouts achieved using parallel wiring. Correct spacing, power supply headroom, and physical testing are all important to achieve a good result. In a recent example, a lightbox using 24 CL005 modules was powered by a 60W 12V LED driver, providing sufficient headroom for reliability and long service life. Using one driver per lightbox kept wiring simple and reduced thermal stress.
