Mirrored Animation Architecture – Technical Example

This example demonstrates the design and pre-configuration of a multi-zone 12V RGBW addressable pixel LED system engineered for synchronised mirrored animation control across multiple independent strip runs.

The system was supplied as a fully configured and extended bench-tested pilot kit prior to site installation.


Project Configuration Overview

The system consisted of two independent lighting zones operating in parallel mirrored mode.

Zone A – Primary Runs

5 × 1820mm pixel strip sections

Each section was cut to 107 individually addressable pixels
(107 pixels × 17mm pitch ≈ 1819mm)

Total Zone A pixels:
5 × 107 = 535 pixels


Zone B – Secondary Runs

4 lighting positions, each containing:

2 × 950mm pixel strips installed side-by-side

Each 950mm section was cut to 56 pixels
(56 × 17mm ≈ 952mm)

Total Zone B strips: 8
Total Zone B pixels:
8 × 56 = 448 pixels


Total System Pixel Count

Zone A: 535 pixels
Zone B: 448 pixels

Total Addressable Pixels: 983

Total installed strip length: approximately 17.1 metres

12V architecture was selected to simplify power distribution and reduce voltage drop across multiple sections.

RGBW technology allows improved white tone control compared to RGB-only pixel systems.

The controller provides over 40 built-in animation programs including:

Chase

Animation speed and global brightness are adjustable directly via remote or wall interface.


Mirrored Multi-Zone Solution

Rather than running the strips in series as one continuous data line, the solution used parallel mirrored signal distribution.

This ensures:

All zones start animations simultaneously
Uniform timing across physically separated strip sections
Reduced risk of cumulative signal delay
Simplified troubleshooting

Each zone was independently fed while maintaining mirrored animation output.

Power calculation basis:

Pixel strip consumption ≈ 24.5W per metre (full RGBW output)

Total theoretical load ≈ 420W under full white conditions

Drivers were selected with operating margin to maintain thermal stability and reduce long-term stress.

Each lighting zone was allocated an independent power supply to:

Maintain voltage stability
Prevent cross-zone interference
Improve serviceability

Before dispatch, the system underwent structured bench configuration including:

Verification of correct data direction per strip
Re-termination where required

Zone allocation testing

Extended runtime burn-in testing
Brightness calibration verification

Each strip was validated to confirm:

Stable voltage across full length
Consistent colour rendering
