Phase-Cut Dimming Extension Module for Large LED Loads
This module extends the load capability of phase-cut dimming systems, allowing a standard leading or trailing edge dimmer to control much larger connected loads. It improves compatibility with dimmable LED lamps and triac-dimmable LED drivers, helping prevent overload, instability or dimmer damage when multiple drivers or high-wattage loads are used on one dimmer channel.
This phase-cut dimming extension module is designed for projects where a single dimmer must control a larger connected load than it was originally rated for. The dimmer provides the phase-cut signal, while the module delivers the high-power switching required to operate larger groups of dimmable LED lamps or multiple triac-dimmable LED drivers safely and reliably.
It supports both leading edge (forward-phase) and trailing edge (reverse-phase) dimming. A simple DIP switch selection allows the output waveform to be matched to the connected load, helping to improve compatibility, reduce flicker and stabilise dimming performance. This flexibility makes the module suitable for a wide range of LED lighting installations where different driver or lamp types may be used.
Using this module reduces electrical stress on the dimmer by preventing large inrush currents and high connected loads from passing through the dimmer directly. Instead, the dimmer only provides the low-power control signal, while the module manages the main load. This helps to protect the dimmer, minimise failures and improve long-term reliability. Multiple modules may be connected to a single dimmer for very large installations, allowing one dimming point to control multiple high-power circuits.
This approach is ideal for residential and commercial installations such as bars, restaurants, clubs, hotels and retail environments where high numbers of LED luminaires or multiple LED drivers need to be dimmed together. It is also suitable for retrofit work where dimmer replacement is not practical but improved load handling and LED driver compatibility are required.
Installation and Safety Notes
This device must be installed by a qualified professional. It is suitable for indoor use only and must be placed in a dry, well-ventilated location to maintain good heat dissipation. Before powering the system, confirm that the DIP switch is set correctly for either leading or trailing edge output to match the connected load. All wiring must follow local regulations and the connected load must not exceed the maximum permitted rating for the supply voltage used.
Always verify the surge current and power factor of connected LED drivers or lamps when calculating total load. Incorrect calculations or installation practices may result in instability, overheating or equipment damage. Hi-Line Lighting supplies LED components only and does not provide formal design or installation consultancy. All electrical design, wiring and protection devices must be determined by a qualified installer. Incorrect installation may lead to overheating, equipment damage or fire.
Warranty Information
Standard Warranty: 3 Years.
Any warranty cover beyond 3 years is considered Extended Warranty and is only valid with an official Hi-Line extended warranty certificate. Extended cover is a paid upgrade and may be offered once our engineers have reviewed the project design, installation details, environment and installer credentials. In selected approved cases, warranty cover may be extended up to 7 years.
