Mains Wall Dimmer LED Interface 12–48VDC, 15A

The Mains Wall Dimmer LED Interface is designed to connect standard or smart AC wall dimmers with large constant voltage LED strip installations. It takes the dimming signal from a leading-edge or trailing-edge dimmer, or from a push-dim switch, and converts it into precise PWM control for LED strips at 12–48VDC. This makes it possible to use stylish or smart mains dimmers to control much larger LED loads than the dimmer could handle directly.

The device provides smooth logarithmic dimming from 0–100%, memory of the last brightness level, and synchronisation across multiple units without additional wiring. Built-in protections ensure reliable and safe operation in demanding environments.

In real projects, this interface solves a key limitation: most wall dimmers can only drive small LED loads directly. For example, the Hi-Line HL-TAG-DIM-W rotary wall dimmer supports up to 80W on its own, but when paired with this interface it can control several hundred watts of LED strips. The same applies to the Hi-Line HL-TS-K(WT) Wi-Fi rotary dimmer, which offers smart control functions but is otherwise limited in direct capacity. With this interface handling the load, such dimmers become suitable for large-scale LED installations.

The interface is suitable for residential, commercial, and architectural projects where customers want the convenience of existing or smart wall dimmers, but need to power high-capacity LED strip runs with smooth, flicker-free dimming.

Note: This interface does not generate power on its own. It must be used with a suitable constant voltage DC power supply, with the same voltage as the connected LED strips (12V, 24V, 36V, or 48V). The PSU should also be rated at least 1.2× above the LED load to ensure stable operation.


Do You Need This Interface?

For small projects, you may not need this device. If your dimmer is connected directly to a short LED strip and the total load is within its rating (for example up to 80W), then you can use the dimmer on its own.

For larger projects or when pairing with stylish or smart AC dimmers, this interface becomes essential. Instead of being restricted by the dimmer’s built-in load capacity, the dimmer only provides the control signal while the interface powers and dims up to 720W of LED strips at 48V. This makes it the right choice if you want to control long LED strip runs or if you are using smart dimmers such as the HL-TS-K(WT) with bigger projects.
