PIR SPI Pixel Controller for WS2811 Tape
Small indoor PIR controller for WS2811 pixel tape. Use a wall switch, or the built-in motion sensor. Built-in scenes including a fill from first pixel to last, then hold. 5–24 V, up to 2048 pixels. No app.
HL-PIR-SPI — indoor PIR controller for WS2811 pixel tape
A compact controller for WS2811 addressable tape. No app and no remote. Settings stay in memory when the power is off. Use it in two ways: a wall switch on the 5–24 V supply, or the built-in motion sensor.
Wall switch
Turn the supply on at the wall. The tape can run from the first pixel to the last, then stay on until you switch off. Choose that scene with + and − (short press), set Always-on with the three-circle button (the word ON under the LED indicators), then set brightness and speed with a three-second hold. Next time you switch on, the same scene runs.
Motion sensor
The tape comes on when someone walks in, then turns off after 15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds. Night (moon) works only in the dark. Day (sun) works in light or dark. Each new movement starts the time again. Point the sensor at the walkway — about 120°, up to 8 m in open space. Indoor, dry locations only.
What it drives
WS2811 pixel tape only — RGB, pixel strings, or single-colour addressable WS2811 such as Hi-Line 24 V COB. Match the tape voltage (12 or 24 V). If the chip on the tape is not WS2811, do not use this controller.
The DC input is linked through to the 3-pin output. A 10 m Hi-Line 24 V WS2811 COB tape (about 100 W) can be powered through this controller alone. On a longer run the far end can go dim — join extra + and 0 V from the same supply further along the tape.
Wiring
- 5–24 V DC into a side socket (second socket is a loop-out at the same voltage)
- 3-pin JST SM to the start of the tape (arrows pointing away from the plug)
- Arrow on the plug = +, middle = data, remaining pin = 0 V
The printed user manual is on the Attachments tab.
