HL-S1-B(WZ) — hidden ZigBee + RF + push AC triac dimmer
This is the ZigBee sister of HL-S1-B(WT). The mains side is the same: one-channel 100–240 V AC phase-cut dimmer for lamps that are actually mains-dimmable, or for a triac-dimmable constant-voltage driver (the driver sits on the dimmed live). The housing still fits a standard UK wall box behind a retractive push plate.
The difference is how the phone talks to it. This unit does not join your WiFi. It joins a ZigBee 3.0 mesh. For Tuya / Smart Life, Alexa and Google you must have a Tuya ZigBee gateway on the same account (Hi-Line HL-WG-Z). It can also sit on a Philips Hue bridge. Without a gateway or Hue bridge you still have the wall push and a 2.4 GHz RF remote — you just do not get the app or voice.
Buy this when
- You already run Tuya ZigBee or Hue and want a hidden mains dimmer on that mesh.
- The back box has a neutral as well as live.
- You want push + RF remotes + app, and you do not want another WiFi client on the 2.4 GHz band.
How people control it
- Retractive push on A1 / A2: short press on/off, long press (1–6 s) ramps brightness; the next long press ramps the other way. Last level is remembered, including after a power cut.
- Tuya Smart / Smart Life through a Tuya ZigBee gateway: hold Match 5 s (or two quick Match presses) until the blue LED flashes, then add ZB3.0-DIM in the app. Five fast power cycles also enter config. Hold Match 2 s to reset the ZigBee network.
- Philips Hue via a Hue bridge (on/off and brightness in the Hue app).
- Alexa / Google once the Tuya (or Hue) device is linked.
- Hi-Line 2.4 GHz single-colour RF remotes (R11, R6, R6-1): short-press Match, then the remote on/off or zone key. About 30 m open / 10–15 m through walls.
The module can also act as a ZigBee-to-RF converter: once it is on the app, you can match other Hi-Line 2.4 GHz RF dimming controllers or drivers and run those from the phone.

Leading or trailing edge — set the DIP before power
Most modern LED lamps and Hi-Line triac drivers want trailing edge (reverse-phase). Set the switch, then apply power. Min brightness 5–30 % (hold Min set 10 s, tap 1–6 times). Fade 0.5 s from the factory; three Match taps after a double power-cycle flips it to 3 s.
