DOWSIL 7091, white, 310 ml. This cartridge is the adhesive for a silicone-sleeved LED strip, IP67 or IP68. It is a Dow product, sold here for that job.
Why most sleeved reels are not mounted on double-sided tape
The outer cover is silicone. Ordinary acrylic tape, the red liner on some reels, sticks to the wall and then lets go of the sleeve. That is why most of these models are supplied without that liner, and why a liner that is still on the reel is peeled off before fitting. Glue spread on top of the liner does not repair it. The weak face is the tape against the silicone.
Open IP00 tape and IP20 tape keep their own adhesive. This cartridge is not for those reels. The indoor amber reel HL-COB-AMBER-IP00-24V-5M is one of those open tapes. Its sleeved sister, HL-COB-AMBER-IP67-24V-5M, is mounted with this cartridge.
How to mount the sleeve
- Cut and connect the strip first. The seal comes after the electrical work.
- If a factory liner is on the sleeve, peel it off the whole run. Do not leave it on and glue over it.
- If the liner will not peel, lay a bead along both long edges so the sealant wets the sleeve and the wall.
- Wipe the sleeve and the surface with isopropyl alcohol. Let both dry.
- Run one thin, continuous bead along the back of the sleeve. Keep it off the LEDs. Do not use blobs.
- Press the run down. Hold it with painter’s masking tape every 200–300 mm, or with the matching clips, until the bead skins. Skin is about 15 minutes at room temperature. The surface is tack-free in about 30 minutes.
- Leave 24 hours before water, washing, or load. In that time the bead cures about 2 mm deep.
- Close every cut with the matching end cap and HL-706TM. This cartridge can finish the outside of a cap that is already fitted. It does not replace the cap, and the 45 g tube does not replace this cartridge on a wall.
On a clean, dry surface the bond is made for ceramic tile, glass, aluminium, painted steel, dry wood, and dry concrete. Painted plasterboard only where the paint is sound and the room stays dry. In a bathroom, bond to the tile.
A ceiling, a long vertical run, a shower, a wet room, or a sauna still needs the matching clips or an aluminium profile to carry the strip. Tell us if a prepared surface does not hold.
Leave CT1, Stixall, Gripfill, No More Nails, and ordinary bathroom silicone for other work. They are not the adhesive for this sleeve.

What is in the box
- One white 310 ml cartridge of DOWSIL 7091. A standard sealant gun fits it.
- One-part neutral-cure silicone. It cures in the moisture in the air, and it has no vinegar smell.
- Non-sag paste, so a bead stays where it is placed on a vertical face.
- Skin about 15 minutes. Tack-free about 30 minutes. About 2 mm of cure in 24 hours, at room temperature.
- The cured bead stays flexible from −40 °C to 180 °C.
- Use an unopened cartridge by the date printed on it.
Must be used by a competent person. Read the label on the cartridge before you open it.
